Fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin profesyonel gelişimlerini etkileyen etkenlere yönelik görüşler

Abstract

Eğitim sisteminin en önemli öğelerinden biri olan öğretmenlerin, çağın gereksinimlerini karşılayabilecek eğitimi sağlayabilmeleri için profesyonel gelişimlerine önem verilmelidir. Bu çalışmada temel amaç, Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmenlerinin profesyonel gelişimlerini etkileyen etkenlerin neler olduğunu ve Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmenleri ile okul yöneticilerinin bu etkenlere yönelik görüşlerini tespit etmektir.Araştırmada hem nitel (yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yöntemi) hem de nicel (anket) araştırma yöntemleri birlikte kullanılmıştır. Mülakat yöntemi öğretmenlerin ve okul yöneticilerinin görüşlerini derinlemesine inceleme fırsatı verirken, anket yöntemi de çok sayıdaki öğretmenin profesyonel gelişim hakkındaki görüşlerine ulaşabilme fırsatı vermiştir. Mülakat çalışması için seçilen örneklemi 2009- 2010 öğretim yılında Nevşehir İli Avanos İlçesi'nde görevli 6 Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmeni ile 6 Okul Yöneticisi oluşturmaktadır. Anket çalışması için seçilen örneklemi ise Nevşehir İl ve ilçelerinde görev yapmakta olan 109 Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Mülakat yoluyla elde edilen veriler, betimsel analiz yöntemi ile çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Belirlenen görüşler frekans ve yüzde olarak verilmiştir. Anketin alt faktörleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi için basit korelasyon tekniği kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca ankete verilen cevaplar yüzde olarak verilmiştir.Araştırma sonuçları, öğretmenlik mesleği profesyonel bir meslek olup, hizmet öncesi eğitimle başlayan, hizmet içi eğitimle devam eden bir süreç olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu süreçte Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmenlerinin profesyonel gelişimine ?bireysel ve dış etkenler? etki etmektedir. Bu etkenler doğrultusunda öğretmenlerin profesyonel gelişimlerinin desteklenmesi gerekmektedir. Ayrıca hizmet içi eğitim programlarının da profesyonel gelişime katkısı bulunmaktadır. Ancak, hizmet içi eğitimin öğretmenlerin profesyonel gelişimine yeterince katkı sağlamasını engelleyen aksaklıkların giderilmesi gereklidir.

As one of the crucial elements of education system, teachers? professional development should be given importance in order them to provide education which compensate the needs of the modern life. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the factors which effect science and technology teachers? professional development and the views of science and technology teachers and head teachers concerning these factors.In this study, both qualitative and quantitative reserach methods were used together. Semi-structured interviews and questonnaires, developed by the researcher, were used. While the interviews allowed the researcher to analyse science and technology teachers? and head teachers? views indepthly and the questionnaires allowed the researcher to reach a large number of views concerning Professional development. This study was carried out with science and technology teachers and head teachers who work in Nevşehir. In the interviews, the sample consisted of six science and technology teachers and six head teachers who work in Nevşehir (Avanos). On the other hand, 109 science and technology teachers in Nevşehir also participated to this study by filling out the questionnaires. The data collected through interviews were analysed by descriptive analysis. For the data collected through questionnaires, statistical analysis was used.According to research evidence, teaching profession is a process which starts with pre-service teacher education and continous with in-service education. In this process, both internal and external factors effect science and technology teachers? professional development. Teachers? Professional development need to be supported. Furthermore, in-service teacher education programs also support teachers? professional development. However, the problems of in-service education programs need to be taken into consideration and steps should be taken to solve these problems.
