Prurigo pigmentosa: Case report [Prurigo Pigmentoza]
Abstract
Prurigo pigmentosa is a rare skin disease of unknown etiology. Prurigo pigmentosa is seen frequently in young Japanese women. It is characterized by pruritic, erythematous macular, papular, papulovesicular lesions and reticular pigmentation. Lesions often localize back, neck, and chest. Dapsone and minocycline are most commonly used in the treatment of prurigo pigmentosa. Here we report a 19 years-old women diagnosed with prurigo pigmentosa by clinical and histopathological findings and treated with doxycycline. Effectiveness of doxycycline in the treatment of prurigo pigmentosa was discussed in the light of literature. Copyright © 2016 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
