Özet

Brick, the oldest known building material in history, has experienced various changes and improvements over time. The intense use of brick in the construction industry makes it a material that needs to be constantly improved. To date, improvements have been made to brick using a wide variety of additives. Since the concepts of recycling and sustainability have become popular recently, bricks have been rehabilitated with waste. In this study, it was aimed to improve the properties of the brick by substituting waste ceramic powder in different amounts (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) and 10% rice husk ash into the brick structure. The study consisted of three main stages. In the first stage, a reference sample was produced to compare the added samples. In the second stage, samples containing waste ceramic powder and rice husk ash were produced. In the third and final stage, dry unit volume weight, water absorption (by weight), porosity, heat conduction coefficient determination, the effect of freezing and thawing on compressive strength and compressive strength tests were applied to the produced brick samples. As a result of the study, it was observed that the use of waste ceramic powder and rice husk ash increased the dry unit volume weight, heat conduction coefficient and compressive strength values. In addition, it was determined that there was a decrease in the values of water absorption (by weight), porosity and the effect of freez and thaw on compressive strenght. As a result, it is thought that waste ceramic powder can be used actively in the production of building materials and can be improved with a different waste in the parameters where it has a negative effect.
