Özet
This research aims to examine the relationship between patience and cynicism based on the opinions of primary school classroom teachers affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. The research is in the relational survey model. The target population of the research consists of 650 classroom teachers working in public primary schools in KırĢehir in the 2023-2024 academic year. 246 teachers were randomly sampled from the target population. In collecting data; A personal information form was used to learn teachers' demographic information, "Teacher Patience Scale" to determine teachers' patience levels, and "Organizational Cynicism Scale" to measure their cynicism levels. Parametric tests were used to analyze the data. t-Test was used to compare paired groups, and ANOVA was used to compare more than two groups. Regression analysis was conducted to determine the predictive level of teachers' patience on cynicism. Percentage and frequency were used in the analysis of personal data, and arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were used in the analysis of items and dimensions. Teachers' opinions on the total and sub-dimensions of patience and cynicism did not differ significantly according to gender, seniority and grade taught. Teachers' opinions on the total and sub-dimensions of patience did not differ significantly depending on the number of students in the class. While teachers' opinions did not differ significantly in the cognitive, affective and total sub-dimensions of cynicism according to the number of students in the class, there were significant differences in the behavioral sub-dimension. Those who teach in classes of 16-25 students stated that they showed less behavioral cynicism compared to other class sizes. According to the results of the research, there is a significant, moderate and negative relationship between patience and cynicism. Patience is a significant but low predictor of cynicism. Instructional and interactional patience together explain 7% of cognitive cynicism, 8% of affective patience, and 5% of behavioral cynicism. Interactional patience affects the cynicism sub- dimensions the most, followed by instructional patience. One unit change in interactional patience; It causes a decrease of 25 units in cognitive cynicism, 27 units in affective cynicism, and 32 units in behavioral cynicism. One unit change in instructional patience; It causes a decrease of 17 units in cognitive cynicism, 20 units in affective cynicism, and 11 units in behavioral cynicism.
